What is going on with the webcam??!!

My webcam has not worked for 3 years now. 

I sent my laptop off when it was being repaired under warranty and when I turned it back on it was updating to Windows 11. 

Since then my camera has not worked. 

I have tried searching for drivers, I cannot roll back my laptop to an earlier update as I would have to back up all my files. I just want a windows 11 HP driver. Have they not made one yet? I have gone through 2 webcams, getting quite frustrated trying to search for a driver. Please does anyone have a solution

This happens because windows often sees the webcam as a USB device, it is a windows bug not a HP driver bug, and it happens frequently in updates.

Some users fix it by doing these steps:

1) Enter the device manager, go to universal USB drivers, and delete all the drivers, then restart the device, the USB drivers will be created again and hopefully the camera will be activated in the Webcam drivers.

2) If this does not work in Device Manager click on the menu “View” and then show hidden devices, if it shows you the webcam, click on the driver and indicate to update, in the next window select “Browse my computer ...” and then “Choose from the list ...” you should see “USB Video Device” select that one and restart the computer at the end of the installation. .

Thank you for your reply. Are you referring to these? 

I've also just seen this as a downloaded item on my laptop however when I have tried to add it as a drive it does not make a difference - its the realtek webcam driver
