Is the HP Essential System Update for Windows 10 really needed?

If you use your computer in a work environment, this is a decision made by your IT department.

If you use your computer in a home / home-office, the decision is yours.

There is a limited amount of information available at the Website Support page to help you decide.

Essential System Updates for Microsoft Windows 10

For example, click open the Associated Files section and click the Download link.

A pop-up opens on your screen that contains the description of the package as provided by HP.

The information files are sometimes more enlightening than others - usually there is at least a "bare bones" description of the intent of the package.  Scroll down in the file to glean a bit more information.

Click open the Fixes section to see more information about the current package.

Click open the Revision History to see any available information about past installation packages.

Consider / Try

Use the Softpaq Download Manager to help you manage your HP Drivers and Software.

The software examines your system and provides a list of installation packages that you can select (or choose to ignore).

NOTE

The SDM can (also) safely install the pesky and fussy BIOS Update.
