@Tim666, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with a issue where your browser window opens minimized or off-screen, making it difficult to access. This sometime happens after display driver updates, when using external monitors, or when switching resolutions. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you fix this on your HP Pavilion - 15-cw1017na running Windows 11:

Use Shift + Right-Click to Move the Window

  1. Hover over the browser icon in the taskbar until the thumbnail preview shows.
  2. Right-click the thumbnail and select “Move” (if it appears).
  3. Use your arrow keys to move the window back onto the screen.
  4. Once visible, drag it with your mouse and resize it.

If “Move” doesn’t appear, try the keyboard-only trick below.

Use Alt + Space

  1. Make sure the browser window is selected (use Alt + Tab to switch to it).
  2. Press Alt + Space to open the window control menu.
  3. Press M for “Move,” then use the arrow keys to shift the window.
  4. When you see it, press Enter to lock it in place.

Reset Window Position via Registry or App Settings

For Microsoft Edge:

  1. Close all Edge windows.
  2. Open Edge and press Ctrl + Shift + N (this opens a new window in incognito).
  3. If this window appears normally, close the small broken one.
  4. Edge should remember the new window size next time.

For Chrome:

  1. Right-click the Chrome shortcut and select Properties.
  2. In the Shortcut tab, change the Run option to Maximized.
  3. Apply the changes and relaunch Chrome.

Disconnect External Displays (if used)

Sometimes Windows thinks the window is on a second screen:

  1. Go to Settings > Display > Multiple displays.
  2. Click Detect to remove ghost displays.
  3. Toggle “Show only on 1” and see if the browser comes back.

Graphics Driver Glitch

Try updating or rolling back display drivers:

  1. Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Display adapters.
  3. Right-click your GPU (likely AMD Radeon/Vega) and select Update driver.
  4. Alternatively, select Properties > Driver tab > Roll back if this issue started after a recent update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
