Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My Laptop Camera has stopped working. When I open the Camera application, I get the error code 0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAttached>. Upon checking the Device Manager, the camera always shows up in the Hidden Devices, and the HP Wide Vision HD Camera Driver is always greyed out. I wish to reinstall the device driver for my camera, and its nowhere to be found on the internet. Requesting assistance. Thanks!

Hi @Equinox0108,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

That’s frustrating, and I understand how important it is to have your camera working again on your HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A2AV), especially when it suddenly disappears. Let’s fix this together step by step:

Step 1: Enable the Camera in Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X and open Device Manager.
  2. Click View → Show hidden devices.
  3. Look under Cameras, Imaging devices, or Sound, video and game controllers
    • If you see the HP Wide Vision HD Camera greyed out, right-click → Enable device.

Step 2: Uninstall and Reinstall

  • If enabling didn’t work:
    1. Right-click the camera entry → Uninstall device.
    2. Click Action → Scan for hardware changes to force Windows to rediscover and reinstall it.

Step 3: Install Official Driver

  1. Visit HP’s official support page for your model. Here's a good example: [HP Victus 15‑fa0000 driver page].
  2. Scroll to the Driver – Camera or Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices section.
  3. Download and install the HP Wide Vision HD Camera driver.
  4. Restart your laptop.
  5. Re-check Device Manager for the camera.

Step 4: Verify Windows Privacy Settings

  1. Go to Settings → Privacy & security → Camera.
  2. Turn Camera access and Allow apps to access your camera to On.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hello, I’m experiencing the identical problem and still haven’t found a solution. Have you been able to resolve it? If you know of any workaround, I’d really appreciate it if you could share it. After removing the camera driver via Device Manager, it no longer appears even in the hidden devices section.
