HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 14-ea0000 (1R2Q2AV)

I bought this laptop in August 2021 in India, and it came with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2019 bundled. After a recent update, Office shows an expired Microsoft 365 grace license (error 0xC004F009, key ending KHGM9) and asks me to buy Microsoft 365. Can HP confirm the bundled license for my model, and tell me how to recover or re-redeem it? The original box and email are gone.

Microsoft 365 is free for 30 days on new systems. After the 30 days a plan needs to be purchased. However, you may have a one year free offer to claim as explained here
If you cannot get it to work then possibly that offer expired or it was only good for 30 days

If you subscribed to Office or purchased it outright, the license info (activation) is recorded in your Microsoft account or whatever account you used when Windows was activated..

Log into your Microsoft account

Any subscription will be near the top of the page: Click 'View all subscriptions' to access a download or activate.

If you bought it outright look at the bottom of that page.  Your 2019 should show up  there.

Thanks. My laptop is from August 2021, not new, and retail listings for this exact model (457L9PA) say it shipped with Office Home & Student 2019, a one-time license, which I have been using ever since. Nothing is listed in my Microsoft account or order history. After a recent Office update, a license check shows only an expired Microsoft 365 grace license (error 0xC004F009, key ending KHGM9) and no Home & Student license. Can HP confirm what was bundled with this model and how to recover or re-redeem the OEM license?

The activation error 0xC004F009 means that your Office 2019 license grace period has expired. This commonly happens when a pre-installed factory license (OEM) fails to properly link with your personal Microsoft account, or when a background Windows Update triggers a trial version of Microsoft 365 that conflicts with your lifetime 2019 bundle.[ref_1, ref_2]Because the key ending in KHGM9 is stuck in an expired grace state, you can fix this by clearing out the stuck key and refreshing the original factory license.

Step 1: Remove the stuck activation key

  • Type cmd in your Windows Search bar.
  • Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following command based on your computer's architecture, then press Enter:
    • For 64-bit Windows & 64-bit Office (Most common):cmd
      cscript "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs" /unpkey:KHGM9

      Use code with caution.
    • For 64-bit Windows & 32-bit Office:cmd
      cscript "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs" /unpkey:KHGM9

      Use code with caution.
  • This will forcefully strip the broken KHGM9 key structure from your system.

Step 2: Remove conflicting Microsoft 365 versions

Bundled PCs often ship with a hidden, pre-activated trial of Microsoft 365 that overrides your lifetime license.[ref_1]

  • Open the Control Panel and click Uninstall a Program (under Programs).
  • Look through the list for Microsoft 365 or any other duplicate Office entry that does not explicitly say "Office 2019".
  • Right-click it and choose Uninstall. Restart your computer.[ref_1, ref_2]

Step 3: Reactivate your original Office 2019

  • Open Microsoft Word or Excel.
  • Go to File > Account (in the bottom-left corner).
  • Look for a prompt asking you to Sign In or Activate.
  • Sign in using the exact Microsoft Account email address you used when you first unboxed and set up the computer. The digital license tied to your motherboard will automatically grab the lifetime entitlement and overwrite the error.[ref_1, ref_2, ref_3]

  •

If you try these steps, let me know:
    • Did the command prompt confirm the key was successfully uninstalled?
    • When you look under File > Account, does it display Office 2019 or Microsoft 365?[ref_1]

  • I noticed you still have factory cloud recovery.,  Even if you do not want to do a factory restore you should donwload a copy  of it before it gets removed.  It is removed after 5 years or "sometime shortly after the warranty expiires"

Thanks for the help! I was able to get back the original plan after switching my account, which was mistakenly set to some old inactive one. Works well now!

Did you get a copy of the factory recovery?  It could be deleted at at any time.

Also, if you could mark a solution so other can find and fix the same problem!. Thanks!
