Pavilion Aero 13.3
Other

I've been setting up my brand-new Aero 13.3 over the past few days, and happened to notice frequent attempts to contact Google Analytics (blocked by my Pi-hole). I traced it to one of the background processes associated with the pre-installed Omen Gaming Hub software. It attempted to send data every three seconds for two days. Why?

At the very least, it's sloppy code, retrying endlessly without backing off, but why is it sending data at all, when I've never even launched OGH?

It is from Google side you may turn it on by mistake. You can turn On/Off using the following Guide

That has nothing to do with my question.

Do you wish disconnect Google Analytics ? Some services OGH will run from the time you turn on your computer to the time you shut it down. If you wish, you can stop those service at start up time, please try:

Go to settings > Apps > OMEN Gaming Hub > Advanced options > App permissions > Background apps - off and Runs at log-in - off

Regards.

@banhein, thank you for actually reading my question this time, rather than just posting a link to an irrelevant support page at Google. I don't know if you tested your solution and confirmed that there were no longer any background processes associated with OGH running, but I solved the problem by completely uninstalling it.

Bottom line, there's no legitimate reason for silently making connection attempts to a third-party analytics site every three seconds whenever the computer is on. This is at best incompetence, and at worst malware. I posted to these forums simply because there didn't seem to be a more direct way to contact the people responsible.
