I am facing a peculiar issue with HP250 G3(Edited) notebook. the WiFi button on the keyboard remains white(enabled). I cannot toggle it to on and off. Since the button remains enabled I am unable to use any other keys on the keyboard. If I disable the WiFi from settings , the light turns orange (disabled) and then I am able to use the keyboard. I have installed the Wireless button driver and also tried changing the keyboard. The external keyboard works without any problem. Please Help.

Thank you for reaching out!

That’s indeed an unusual and very specific behavior, good observations so far. Let’s go step-by-step to narrow this down.

  1. Verify WiFi Driver Installation:

    • Ensure the WiFi drivers are up-to-date. Go to the HP Support Website and download and install the latest wireless network drivers for your HP 250 G3 notebook.

2. BIOS Update:

  • Go to the HP Support website to download and install the latest BIOS update for your notebook. An outdated BIOS can sometimes cause hardware functionality issues.

3. Check for System Conflicts:

Try booting the system in Safe Mode. If the issue does not appear in safe mode, it could be a software conflict causing the problem.

4. Reset BIOS Defaults:

Sometimes resetting the BIOS to its default settings can resolve hardware-related issues. To do this, enter the BIOS Setup on startup (usually by pressing F2 or ESC during boot) and select "Load Setup Defaults."

5. Windows Keyboard Shortcuts:

Check if a Windows keyboard shortcut or setting is interfering. Sometimes, custom accessibility settings can affect key functionality.

6. Reinstall Keyboard Driver:

In Device Manager, uninstall the keyboard driver (be sure to have an external keyboard ready), then reboot the system to allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.

7.  Hardware Check:

Since the external keyboard works fine, it seems to be a hardware-related issue with the internal keyboard. Check if there are any visible damages or debris on the WiFi button. Also, run a hardware diagnostic test.

Please keep me posted on whether this resolves the issue, or let me know if you need any additional assistance from our side.
