Microsoft Windows 11

HP has been horrendous with software support for devices that are only  3-5 years old.

Historically, I've run into the same issue with laptops created for Windows 8/8.1 that had issues running Windows 10, purely because HP does not provide driver updates and support for their own devices.

Now I'm seeing multiple customers within my repair shop with 10th gen HP laptops that come in for service, and after loading or updating to Windows 11 (As will be highly recommended as Windows 10 is going out of support in October) having complications with sporadic issues such as the cursor causing the system display to black out, causing frustration for my customers.

Installing the latest drivers from intel and ensuring the BIOS is up to date appears only to be a stop-gap, and a lack of official W11 support from HP is the underling issue., and the problem with the graphics on these models crops back up over time.

My question for HP is that, why do you not care to support the products you create? Windows 11 has been out for nearly 4 years, you've had the time to properly update the support pages, and you've had this same issue in regards to Windows 8.1 devices upgrading to Windows 10. This was a known problem.

These 5 year old devices are not obsolete, and customers deserve proper support.

@TechGuy355, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Driver!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The compatibility of Windows 11 on 10th generation HP laptops primarily depends on the specific laptop model and its hardware configurations. HP provides support for Windows 11 on a variety of laptops, but it is important to refer to the specific support documentation and resources provided by HP to ensure compatibility and driver availability.

Here are the steps to verify if your 10th generation HP laptop supports Windows 11:

Check Compatibility:

  • Visit the official HP support website and search for your specific laptop model to see if Windows 11 is supported.
  • Refer to HP’s documentation for Windows 11 compatibility and system requirements HP Windows 11 Setup Instructions.

Driver Updates:

  • If your laptop is compatible with Windows 11, HP will usually provide the necessary driver updates. These may be available through the HP website or automatically through Windows Update.
  • Ensure that your system is fully updated, including BIOS and firmware updates, as they may provide improvements for Windows 11 compatibility.

Windows Compatibility Tool:

  • Use the PC Health Check app provided by Microsoft to determine if your system meets the hardware requirements for Windows 11.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
