Hello there! I had an issue with my laptop before, and I was not sure if I could fix it. When I bought this laptop, it had Windiows 8.1 pre-installed. Later I decided to upgrade my operating system to Windows 10, but there were some driver and software problems. I downgraded to 8.1 and it worked just fine, but I like to play computer games with my friends. So I decided to download that game called "CoD: Warzone", but it turns out I need to have Windows 10 to be able to install DirectX12 to be able to launch the game at all.
My question is: can I upgrade my operating system from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 without having any issues with driver installation and software compatibility? If so, where should I get the drivers for my laptop? From the HP's official site where drivers for my laptop are (only Windows 8.1, no Windows 10), or I should use some kind of other application to install the latest drivers for me?
I should note, that the previous time I installed Windows 10 on my computer I had some issues with laptop going to sleep mode when lid slides down, or going to sleep mode at all, fan acceleration problems (thus no full performance of CPU and GPU) and sound quality drop. I think I fixed most of them at some point, but I still downgraded because I didn't find that experience with Windows 10 the same as with Windows 8.

First of all, your previous experience answered your own question -- if you upgrade again to Win10, you will repeat the issues you encountered before.
Second, I would advise AGAINST using any driver location apps as most of them are bogus and charge you money for drivers you already have or drivers that don't work.
There are other folks here that have access to Win10 driver compatibility info I don't have, so if one of those weighs in and provides you a link to better drivers, then you would be OK; otherwise, it would be repeat of what you encountered in the past.
