HP ENVY x360 - 13t-y000 CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

HP + Windows (indirectly) state NO pre-8th gen Intel CPU's are compatible (regardless of the

amount/level/strength of remaining components).  Have Envy x360 laptop+ i7-7500U /W10

& (mother-in-law's) Envy 750-524 desktop+ i7-7700 /W10.  Initial reaction was "CRAP, only

one gen short!!"  However, the web is inundated with YouTube videos and instructions how

they successfully added W11 to 7th gen (and earlier) Intel CPU's.  So before attempting any

risky experiment, I seek guidance/warning/instructions/etc from the Experts!  Whattya say?

Hi:

I already gave you the information you requested and the easiest way to safely go about it.

Solved: will not upgrade to Windows 11 even though...... - HP Support Community - 8436431

Most folks here are going to tell you not to upgrade to W11 since your PC doesn't meet the requirements.

I have successfully upgraded 11 unsupported Dell and HP notebook and desktop PCs to W11.

They all run better on W11 than they did on W10, or I would not have wasted my time upgrading them.

The only thing I can't guarantee you is that you will have the same experience with upgrading your notebook to W11, that I had with an older HP notebook than yours (an HP 350 G1 with an Intel 4th gen core processor and no TPM security device).

But it is easy enough to try the upgrade if you want to.
