Hi @day6321

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It looks like you're encountering an issue with a specific USB driver update for a Hewlett-Packard device on your Windows 11 system. The error message points to a driver update failure for a device associated with HP, specifically for the USB driver (version 48.1.4365.18280).

Here’s a step-by-step guide to resolve this update failure:

1. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter

Windows provides a built-in Windows Update Troubleshooter that can detect and fix issues related to updates.

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Navigate to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  3. Scroll down and click on Windows Update.Click Run to start the troubleshooting process.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to fix any issues found by the troubleshooter.
  5. After the troubleshooter completes, check if the update issue persists.

2. Manually Update the USB Driver

The issue could be caused by a corrupted or outdated USB driver. You can manually update it from Device Manager.

  1. Open Device Manager:
    • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Locate the device in the Universal Serial Bus controllers section (look for any HP USB devices).
  3. Right-click on the device and select Update driver.
  4. Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
    • If a new driver is found, it will be installed automatically. Restart your PC and check if the update issue is resolved.
  5. If no update is found, right-click on the device again and choose Uninstall device. Restart your PC, and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

3. Manually Install the HP USB Driver

It’s possible that the issue is with the specific HP USB driver (48.1.4365.18280). You can download and install the latest version of the HP USB driver manually.

  1. Visit the HP Support website:
HP Support Driver Downloads.Enter your HP device model (or search for the exact USB driver version, 48.1.4365.18280).
  2. Download the latest USB driver available for your device.Once downloaded, install the driver and restart your system.

4. Clear Windows Update Cache

Sometimes Windows Update cache can cause issues with updates. You can clear the cache to resolve potential problems.

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
  2. Type services.msc and press Enter to open Services.
  3. Locate and stop the Windows Update service by right-clicking on it and selecting Stop.

5. Use the Windows Update Catalog

If the update continues to fail, you can try to manually download the update from the Windows Update Catalog.

  1. Go to the Windows Update Catalog website:
    Windows Update Catalog.
  2. Search for the specific driver version (48.1.4365.18280) or HP USB driver.
  3. Download the driver that matches your system architecture (e.g., x64 for most modern systems).
  4. Install the driver manually and restart your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
