HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

i reinstalled windows 7 home premium 64 bit SP1 on my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC 3 days ago and windows is asking the product key to activate so i submitted the product key number located on bottom of notebook product number VV255UA#ABA[edit]but it comes back as invalid i called microsoft and they said to call the manufactuer

Here are all possible reasons for this to happen:

 

  • The key got invalidated for security reasons (by Microsoft)
  • You have a COA sticker (and a license) for different Windows edition than the one you installed

- Can you double check the COA sticket and ensure the edition -> Starter / Home / Pro / Ultimate  ? Post it back , please

- Where did you download the Windows 7 installation media that you used ? How did you reinstall it
