Hi All,

Does anyone in the community know what the cause of this error is?

C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft\Windows.Clien.AIX_cw5nih2tewy\AIXHost.exe error

I just purchased this Omnibook less than 3 weeks ago but just encountered this error today. Not sure what caused it. I've been very careful about downloading and installing and making sure I don't do it for all unknown s/w and websites. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @JoSlc,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The error you’re seeing: C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Client.AIX_cw5n1h2txyewy\AIXHost.exe. is related to Windows Copilot / AI features introduced in recent Windows builds (including 23H2 and 24H2 onward). The AIXHost.exe process belongs to Microsoft’s AI Experience Host, which powers Copilot and some AI-driven UI elements. When this crashes, it usually indicates:

Recommended Fix Steps

1. Run System File Checker & DISM

  • Open Command Prompt (Admin): sfc /scannow
                                 DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  • This repairs corrupted system files.

2. Check Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update → Install all updates.
  • Especially Optional Updates (drivers and feature packs).

3. Repair or Reset AI Experience Pack

  • Open Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
  • Search for Microsoft AI Experience Pack.
  • Click Advanced OptionsRepair or Reset.

4. Update Graphics Drivers

  • Use HP Support Assistant or HP’s driver page for your OMEN model: Official HP® Support.
  • AI features rely on GPU acceleration; outdated drivers can cause crashes.

5. Check Reliability Monitor

  • Press Win + R, type perfmon /rel.
  • Look for AIXHost.exe failures and note the faulting module (often a DLL).

6. Optional: Disable Copilot Temporarily

  • If the error persists and you don’t use Copilot:
  • Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Copilot → Turn off.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
