@Highway2, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Sure, I can help guide you through recovering your Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) license and getting a clean installation file. Here's what you can do:

1. Recover Your Windows 7 License Key (If It’s Still on the Laptop)

Option A: Check COA Sticker

  • Most older laptops (especially from the Windows 7 era) came with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) sticker on the bottom of the laptop or under the battery.
  • Look for a sticker with "Windows 7 Professional OA" and a 25-character key (e.g., XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX).
  • If you find it, that's your original license key.

Option B: Recover the Key from the BIOS (if embedded)

Some manufacturers embedded the key in BIOS. You can try extracting it using tools:

  1. Download and run a key recovery tool like:

2. Download Official Windows 7 Professional 64-bit ISO

Microsoft no longer hosts Windows 7 ISOs publicly unless you have a retail product key. But you can still get clean ISOs from trusted sources:

Use Heidoc.net Windows ISO Downloader

  • This tool downloads original ISOs from Microsoft's servers.
  • Choose: Windows 7 Professional SP1 - 64-bit

3. Reinstall Windows 7

  • Burn the ISO to a USB using Rufus or similar tool.
  • Boot from USB, and install Windows 7.
  • Enter your product key when prompted (if you recovered it).
  • If key isn't accepted during setup, skip, then activate after install.

If the key is lost and not recoverable:

>Unfortunately, Microsoft no longer provides Windows 7 OEM keys, and they cannot be recovered from Microsoft unless you had a Microsoft account linked (very rare for Win7).

>You may need to:

  • Buy a new key from a trusted third party (e.g., eBay or a license reseller).
  • Or consider upgrading to Windows 10 using the same ISO (some OEM Win 7 keys still activate Windows 10!).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
