HP Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I'm in the middle of an account change with Microsoft and I can't post a question in that forum so I want to post it to HP. This is in regards to a Windows Update. Everyday about 10 times a day. My message center tells me that (We have an update) for you and when I go with it my laptop restarts then the message comes up with (We could not install one updates). I don't know what numbers you would like off my laptop or the update. I can tell you the HP laptop is about 4 months old  but just started using it a few weeks ago. The laptop works extremely well and I have three. So the update tells me that the my PC is at risk of a security and quality update and restart now. Let me know what numbers you will need and I have them rite here. I can give screenshots too if that helps you.               Thank You.    BusterBodyCrab

Glad to have you back. 🙂

I suggest you to go for the Win 1803 update only if there is a prompt from Microsoft to got for it.

Also, you could try the following steps:

Apply repairs automatically

  1. In Windows, search for and open Troubleshooting.

    The Troubleshooting window opens.

  2. Click any of the troubleshooting links under the main headings.

The troubleshooting window for the issue you selected opens.

  3. To manually apply repairs from a list of possible problems, click Advanced in the specific troubleshooting window you have open.

  4. Uncheck the Apply repairs automatically box.

  5. Click Next. The troubleshooter displays a list of detected problems and possible solutions.

Select an option and follow the on-screen instructions.

  6. To re-enable Apply repairs automatically, check the Apply repairs automatically box.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

The Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

I understand you are in need of support,

I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:

What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?

When was the last time it worked without these issues?

Did you run a hardware test on the computer using the F2 key during a restart? (to ensure there aren't any hardware issues)

Please reply with the details for further assistance.

Eager to help!

If I have helped you resolve the issue,

My laptop's Prod# 2ZK33UA#ABA

I didn't know if HP would want to post this problem but since you are this is the story. I purchesed this laptop for a friend of mine that must not know much about them so he didn't want it and brought it back to me. I purchesed it about a half a year ago and he brought it back within a month. Then it sat here for quite a while untill I took it out and fired it up witch was about 3 weeks age.

The battery was stone dead. When I got it going the thing was so bad and wouldn't respond to anything. I ended up doing a total reset on it that took 3 1/5 hour's. Then I went through all the steps of registration and I mean it took most of a day but when I was done this thing worked perfect but from the first day I started using it and I'm on it now I had the problem with this one update.

I have not tryed the F2 key but will if you want I can try that. (I never did that before)

The update is - 2018-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64 Based Systems (KB4093112)

Today the message hasn't come up yet witch is odd. Just looked in settings (Update and Security) and it is still there.

I really, really like this laptop better then my other two HPs so I hope we can figure this out.      BusterBodyCrab

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

Have you been installing the updates using the HP Support Assistant or via windows updates?

If its the HPSA, I suggest that you completely uninstall HPSA and install the latest version found on this link: https://hp.care/2pCuvhG
This may solve the issue as there have been some updates made to the app.

If the issue is with windows updates, try the below steps:

  1. Disable your antivirus software using the following steps.

    1. In the Windows search bar, type System Configuration.

    2. Click the Startup tab, then click Open Task Manager.

Figure : Startup tab in System Configuration

      Task Manager opens.

    3. Find the antivirus software in the list, select it, and select Disable.

    4. Close Task Manager.

  2. Perform a clean boot using the following steps to disable startup items.

    1. In Windows, search for and open System Configuration.

      The System Configuration window opens.

    2. In System Configuration, click the Services tab.

Click the Hide all Microsoft services check box, then click Disable all.

I was using the windows update but I uninstaled HPSA and reinstaled it with the version you gave me and that didn't do it.

I then did what you said but I don't know if I did it rite. I then went to Control Panal-Programs-Programs and Features-Installed Updates then uninstaled the (KB4093112) update and restarted again and when I went to settings again it said updates available and status (Installing) When it was done nothing changed. Now I noticed a new problem in HPSA. This device has the wrong model number. I'm not that sharp on these things but I'm going to see what I can do and I'll have to get back with you and that might be in a couple days because I have other things to do so bare with me and I'll be back.

I thank you for the help.    BusterBodyCrab

UPDATE  Men, I hope everything works out but I think I got it. Reset the PC before I went to sleep and when I awoke at 1:30am it was ready and it started with the updates then I remembered that the wrong version of HPSA was installed so I quick uninstaled that and hoped for the best. I'm on one of my other HPs now waiting Windows 10 version 1803 update and the status is at 15% but it's telling me that (KB4093112) successfully Installed and will have to get back with you latter with the results. If this works out I'm going to need the rite version of HPSA. 21% now so cross your fingers.

Thanks Again All.     BusterBodyCrab

Hello MKazi, I had to rest for awhile as this update beat me up pretty good for about 20hrs now but here's what I got. The update (KB4093112) is instaled and I had the rite vesion of HPSA but I think I was looking at it wrong. The model # was rite excapt it had a couple of Xs at the end like__-___xx instead of #s so when I instaled the version 8.5.37.19 of support assisstant again it was the same. OK Now what I got going on is the (Update for Windows 10 version 1803) that's bin downloading all day about 10 or15 times now. It downloads to 100% then starts over again with a failed install attempt and this number along with it- 0x8024200d but no red flags like the other.  I also went to Microsoft Store and made sure all the updates got installed witch I never seen before. I'm on this rascal again and wondering what I should do about version 1803 and if it's not a big deal I would like to call this one solved and I want you all to know that it wasn't this laptops falt but the person that I bought it for. Don't know what he did to it. What do you think? BusterBodyCrab
