Hi, I am having some issues with my wired USB computer mouse. For a while I have had no issues but recently whilst using it the cursor has suddenly stopped working. The mouse continues to have left and right click capabilities but no cursor movement. This does work when using the touchpad but not with the mouse.
I have tried using the mouse in multiple USB ports with them all have the same effect. Furthermore I have tried the mouse on various computers and I can confirm it works but however this isn’t for extended periods of time to see if it eventually cuts out. I had a previous mouse that also had the same issue but this also had issues of its own with regards to recognising it was on a surface, but leading me to believe the issue is with the laptop itself.
I have tried restarting the computer. As well as uninstalling the driver and reinstalling- both of which occasionally work for a short period of time (5 minutes max) before failing again. I have also changed the power management settings on the USB ports as is recommended in alternative posts. I have also completed the HP diagnostic testing but I couldn’t complete these with the USB mouse as it is simply not working, but when using the touchpad on the laptop- the results showed no error.
I am at a bit of a loss as to where to go from here as I think I have tried everything seen and recommended on these forums and online. If anyone could offer any help this would be greatly recommended as the issue is becoming increasingly frustrating.
Thank you in advance!
