HP Chromebook 14-ak040wm

Yesterday I was using my wireless mouse just fine on my Chromebook and today it just stopped working. The pointer didn't disappear or anything its just not working.  It is plugged in to the USB... I tried a new USB port too and it still did not work. Turned it off and back on again. Turned my Chromebook off and back on again.  Battery is new and still not working. Tried to push the connect button and that didn't do anything either. Just need the mouse to work again so I can use my Chromebook for the purpose I got it.   Mouse is an Onn Brand. Only used Chromebook and Mouse for 2 days and it stopped working.

@sarahbholly,

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I see from your post that you are having issues with the wireless mouse not working on your HP Chromebook. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you checked if this wireless mouse works fine on another computer?

Did you check if other USB devices are getting detected on this computer?

Have you tried to connect a USB mouse on this computer and check if that works?

Is the touchpad working fine on the notebook?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Hard reset on the notebook:

A hard reboot can resolve many Chromebook startup issues. Follow these steps to perform a hard reboot:

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards.

  3. Disconnect the AC power adapter.

  4. Press and hold the power button for at least 7 seconds.

  5. Reconnect the AC power adapter.

  6. Turn on the computer.

Could you please respond to this post with the details as this will help me in further assisting you.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

Regards,

Jeet_Singh
