Hi @DET3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I totally understand how distressing it is to wake up and find the Play Store and all your favorite apps have vanished after an update. Let’s work through this together.

Why This Happens

  • A Chrome OS update bug has caused the Play Store and Android apps to disappear on some Chromebooks, notably models similar to yours, even if they originally supported them.
  • This doesn't necessarily mean you lost compatibility, but a glitch in the update disabled Android support.

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Confirm Your Chromebook Supports the Play Store

Some models are not compatible. Check Google's official list to make sure your Chromebook supports Android apps.

2. Re-enable the Google Play Store

  • Go to Settings
  • Scroll to Apps (or Apps & notifications)
  • Look for the Google Play Store and toggle it on
  • If it’s not visible, move on to the next step

3. Restart Your Chromebook

A simple reboot can often restore missing features.

4. Remove & Re-Add Your Account (Optional)

  • Go to Settings → Accounts → Google Accounts
  • Remove your account, then sign back in. Sometimes this restores Play Store settings.

5. Powerwash (Factory Reset)

  • Back up your files first
  • Go to Settings → Advanced → Reset Settings → Powerwash
  • Once the reset finishes, return to Settings → Apps and toggle Play Store back on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
