Would like support assistant ver 9.6 for my older Spectre 15T

HP Spectre 15T 7th gen Intel

Would like to get version 9.6 of HP Support Assistant. Only wants to give me version 8. The latter is much more informative

At this writing - Software "style" HP Support Assistant is version 8.8.x

Answer

The "older" version is the only version available for your system.

The "9.6.x" version is actually an application that has the "look and feel" of a Mobile device environment.

Yes, some people do like the "wrapper" of the newer application better.

For example, possible benefits:

• The GUI (wrapper / presentation) is visually appealing
• The format is easier to read / find information
• The application does not include (or require) the separate "companion" software (HP Solutions Software)

This "application" flavor is (only) available on some newer systems / platforms.

Eventually, the Application type will likely take over as the predominant type as people replace older systems with newer models.

Yeah, but...

"Under the hood", the two types provide essentially the same service.

No emails, please, this is not intended to be a code-line by code-line comparison.
