about anti virus

I use the laptop for general purposes, does I need to install anti-virus or windows defender is enough?

It is a matter of personal choice.  Microsoft will obviously tell you the Windows Defender (now called  Windows Security) is adequate while the major antivirus/antimalware will tell you theirs is better.  Here is a quote from the Microsoft site:
