Does your notebook come with a backlit keyboard?

 

That was an option not a standard configuration.

 

If the notebook has a backlit keyboard the F4 key should have a keyboard icon with 'light rays' above the icon.

 

If you see no such function key, then your notebook did not come with a backlit keyboard.
