my active stylus pen, an HP Pen (Microsoft), will not work on my screen. I checked here, https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05166879, and the type of pen I have is compatible with my computer.  my old pen worked well until it stopped, which is when I got a replacement that is exactly like my previous pen. the battery and hardware should be fine in the new pen, as I got it less than a month ago and directly from HP.

my touchscreen periodically stops working, but I can almost always get it to start working again by restarting the computer, or if that doesn't work, going through and letting all my pending updates update. I have done everything I do to make the touchscreen start working again, but nothing has made the pen work.

The article for troubleshooting pen problems, https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04706945, has nothing in it about what to do if an active stylus stops working.

I cannot find any more articles that could help me figure out what the problem is.
