Hi! @sydney417,

Please share a picture of the audio switch to assist you better.

If you have audio issues with the PC. Try the steps recommended below.

Uninstall the audio drivers from the device manager on the PC and try updating the latest version of BIOS and audio drivers from the link below.

Update the BIOS using this link. Click Here

Also, update the audio drivers using this link. Click Here

Also, Make sure that Windows Audio service is started.

a. Click Start, type services.msc and press Enter.

b. Double-click "Windows Audio" service.

c. Click the Log On tab.

d. Click Local System account, and then click OK.

e. Right-click "Windows Audio" service, and then click Start.

f. Follow the same steps for "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder" service.

Please try the steps recommended below.

Go to Windows Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers section.
In the list of audio device drivers, look for Realtek High-Definition Audio. This is the device driver for BeatsAudio (a little bit sneaky, wouldn’t you say?).
Right-click and select Disable. The downward arrow displays on this driver, indicating it is disabled. (NOTE: At this point, you won’t be able to play any music files.)
Right-click and select Update Driver Software.
Select Browse my computer for driver software.
Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
You should see a window that says Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware. NOTE: If you see a window that says something like This is the best driver for this device, exit the window and repeat steps 4, 5, and 6.
In the Model box, highlight High Definition Audio Device (this is the substitute audio device driver) and click Next.
At the Update Driver Warning window, click Yes. You should see a confirmation window with High Definition Audio Device displayed. Click Close.
In the list of audio device drivers in the Sound, video and game controllers section, you’ll notice that the High Definition Audio Device now displays instead of Realtek High-Definition Audio.
At the prompt to reboot, click Yes.

If the issue still persists try the steps recommended below.

background intelligent transfer service (BITS) transfers files (downloads or uploads) between a client and server and provides progress information related to the transfers. If the BITS service is turned off, windows update may have problems delivering files to your computer.

Let me know if this works!

Have a great day! 🙂

A4Apollo     I wasn't having audio problems. As I posted I just wanted to upgrade AS to the newer version 150 from the 138. I did the windows audio service start you recommended. I did the update audio drivers from your link. I did the device manager steps you recommended. Never got the 150 audio switch, I do have the 150 exe downloaded to my pc but do not know how to install it. It doesn't run when I click on it. After following your steps I lost all audio and video and couldn't even open a web page. I had to do a pc system restore that I luckily had from the day before all this and it straightened every thing out. I don't have the old 138 version anymore. I got rid of it.

@sydney417,

Thanks for the update and I'm not sure what is an HP audio switch.

Please share a picture of the audio switch as requested previously, So I can research on this issue and give you a proper solution.

Also, if the audio switch was working previously, try performing a system recovery on the PC and check if it helps.

There isn't a picture to share. Check this forum link, one of several, https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/What-can-I-remove-quot-bloatwar.... This is one of several bloatware products factory installed on HP pc's.

@sydney417,

I'm not sure if the HP audio switch is being included with the PC.

However, if the software was shipped with the PC. Try reinstalling the application using the HP recovery manager.

Yes, it is added to HP pc's. I tried to add a picture of Recovery Manager showing "HP Audio Switch Version: 1.0.138.0". I couldn't add anything to this reply so I don't know what happened to the picture. There is a newer version also found in the forums, 1.0.150.0 which I had wanted to get. It doesn't seem to be readily available from HP.

@sydney417

You can try with the newer version that you've found in the forums.
And also you can install the HP support assistant and update the drivers: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

Keep me posted on the results.

I have the newer .exe version 1.0.150.0 downloaded on my pc but it does nothing when I click on it. Support assistant is useless for this issue, the newer version is not available. Where is HP hiding this? You should be able to download and install hpaudioswitch.exe v. 1.0.150.0 from HP.
