Hi @Anikbd089,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop's battery isn't stopping charging at 80% even after selecting the "extend battery life" option in the BIOS, there could be several reasons for this.

  • Battery Calibration: Sometimes the battery needs to be calibrated to accurately display its charge level. Try fully charging and then fully discharging your laptop a couple of times to recalibrate the battery.
  • Battery Health: It's possible that your battery is reaching the end of its lifespan or is damaged. In such cases, even with the "extend battery life" option enabled, it may not hold a charge beyond a certain percentage.
  • Software or Firmware Issue: There could be a software or firmware issue causing the battery to not charge properly. Make sure your laptop's BIOS and drivers are up to date, as updates may contain fixes for such issues.
  • Power Management Settings: Check your power management settings in Windows to ensure there aren't any settings conflicting with the BIOS option you selected. Sometimes, Windows power management settings can override BIOS settings.
  • Faulty BIOS Setting: Despite selecting the "extend battery life" option in the BIOS, there could be a fault with the BIOS itself, preventing it from properly controlling the battery charging process.
  • Hardware Issue: There might be a hardware issue with the battery or charging circuitry in your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
