Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Pavillion laptop, model 15-cc1xx.

My OS is Windows 11 24H2.

It is very slow in booting up and response time is awful.

How do I upgrade the BIOS for this laptop and why don't I see Windows 11 as an option  at the HP site (only Windows 10 shows in the HP menu)?

Thank you,

Dan

HP never provided W11 drivers for the model series.

Why, I do not know and since we don't work for or represent HP, no one here would have an answer for you.

You have two options to update the BIOS:

Run the W10 update on W11.

That shouldn't be a problem, but I can't 100% guarantee it, since I do not have your model notebook.

My HP notebook did not have W11 drivers either and I ran the W10 BIOS updates on W11 with no problem with a few of them.

Your other option is to make a USB BIOS recovery drive with the W10 BIOS file and update the BIOS outside of Windows.

Watch these two videos at the links below for how to make and use the BIOS recovery flash drive to update the BIOS outside of Windows.

How to create a BIOS recovery drive with the above BIOS file.

How to recover/update your notebook's BIOS with the USB recovery drive:

Having read the release notes for the current version and all of the previous versions, I am skeptical that updating the BIOS will make any difference in your notebook's performance but hopefully I will be wrong about that.

Paul,

Actually, I did find a BIOS update at the HP site, which I downloaded and installed; however, you were correct in that the update (I went from F.22 to F.36) did not resolve my laptop's sluggishness. I even followed up by doing an in-place install (so no apps, files, or settings were lost), but even that did not resolve my issue.

The only benefit was that, considering this was the first time I'd done a BIOS update, I am no longer nervous about doing it. Over the years, I'd heard about the risk of bricking my PC if the BIOS install went bad, but I'll give it to HP that it was just as easy as installing any other piece o' software.

Thanks for your reply.
