so how do I fix my computer/pc? it shows a blue screen saying that that my device/pc needs to be repaired. a required device isn't connected or can't be accessed. error code: 0xc0000225 and that I'll need to use recovery tools and if I don't have any installation media like a disc or USB device that I need to contact the PC administration or PC/device manufacturer. (I don't have either of those). and in the bottom it says, "press enter to try again, press f1 to enter recovery environment, press f8 for startup settings, press esc for UEFI firmware settings." how do I fix this issue?

@ruthy41, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering the Windows Boot Manager error (0xc0000225), it typically indicates missing or corrupted system files, a bad Windows update, or a damaged boot configuration. Since you don’t have installation media, let’s try a few recovery steps without needing a USB or disc for now.
🔧 Step-by-Step Recovery Options (from the screen you're stuck on)
1. Press F1 – Enter Recovery Environment (WinRE)
If that works, it’s your best bet:
- In the Recovery Environment, go to:
- Troubleshoot > Advanced Options
- Try Startup Repair first. If it works, your PC will reboot into Windows.
- If not, go back and try System Restore (if you had restore points enabled).
- You can also open Command Prompt and run the following commands:
chkdsk /f /r C:
sfc /scannow
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
- If bootrec /fixboot gives an "access denied" error, let me know—we’ll work around it.
2. Press F8 – Startup Settings
This lets you boot into Safe Mode:
- Select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking.
- If it boots: You can then uninstall problematic updates or drivers, or run sfc /scannow from Command Prompt.
3. Press Esc – UEFI Firmware Settings
This takes you to BIOS. Here's what to check:
- Check if your SSD is detected (under Storage / Boot menu).
- Set Secure Boot = Enabled, Fast Boot = Disabled (optional), and boot mode to UEFI.
- Make sure the internal drive is first in the Boot Order.
- Save and exit.
💡 If None of That Works:
You will need installation media (USB with Windows 11). Since you don’t have one now, you can create one using another PC:
✅ Steps to Create Windows 11 Installation USB:
- Go to Microsoft's official website.
- Download the Media Creation Tool.
- Plug in an empty 32GB USB and use the tool to create bootable media.
- Boot your HP Envy into BIOS (press Esc > F9 for the boot menu) and select the USB drive.
- Then:
- Choose Repair your computer instead of "Install Windows".
- Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options and retry Startup Repair, System Restore, or Command Prompt.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
