HP All-in-One - 22-b013w (Touch) (ENERGY STAR)

I bought a used HP All-in-One PC, Model 22 b013w, it is locked. How do I get in to do a factory reset?

Hi @flurryshanon,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how frustrating it can be to purchase a used PC and find that it's locked. For your HP All-in-One - 22-b013w, you may be able to perform a factory reset using the built-in recovery options; however, please note that if the device is locked with a password or tied to a Microsoft account, that information would need to be cleared or removed by the previous owner.

To attempt a factory reset:

  1. Power off the PC completely.
  2. Turn it on and immediately press the F11 key repeatedly (once every second) as soon as it powers on.
  3. This should launch the HP Recovery Manager or Windows Recovery Environment.
  4. From there, select "Troubleshoot" > "Reset this PC".
  5. Choose "Remove everything" to restore it to factory settings.

⚠️ Important: If the device is linked to a previous owner’s Microsoft account, even after the reset, you’ll be prompted for their credentials during setup (due to a security feature called Microsoft’s Activation Lock / BitLocker / Windows Hello). In this case, HP is unable to remove that lock — only the original owner can do so.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you to everyone, I just found all of my replies in my spam folder. Here's what I did, the night i asked for help, believe it or not I actually unlocked the All in one PC, with no tools or help. After I unlocked it, I did a total reset, It took all night and part of the next day. Then I set it up with my preferred settings which took the rest of that day. Then I noticed it was almost out of memory, so I added a memory card and put it back together. Now the screen wont come on. It is getting nothing at all to the screen, its on/running but no screen. I tried to connect it to a projector, nothing, I tried to connect it to the AUX port and through the HDMI PORT, still nothing is showing. I had muted the sound before i put the memory card in so there's no sound. I looked up the manual for the external keyboard on one of my 2 backup computers and tried the designated un-mute function key. I don't know if that worked because theres still no sound on when I restart the PC. I started troubleshooting with Co-Pilot and was getting to the last possible attempts when I had to pause the troubleshooting. Then both of my backup computers crashed! It took a week to finally get one to kinda work good enough to use. But I would still like to get the all-in-one pc up and running. If you have any suggestions that I can try to find out exactly what I need to get to repair it, I would appreciate whatever information I can get at this point.

@flurryshanon, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for keeping us posted, and sorry to hear you're running into more trouble with your HP All-in-One. You’ve done a great job so far—especially getting it unlocked and reset on your own!

Since the PC powers on but there's no display (even with external monitors), here are a few things you can try:

Basic Power Reset:

Unplug the power cable.

Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.

Plug it back in and try turning it on again

.

Check for Signs of Life:

Do you hear any beeps or see any lights flash?

Any fan movement or hard drive activity?

Reseat the RAM:

Since you added a memory card, try removing it and reseating the original RAM (if available).

If no screen still, try booting with just one stick of RAM (if there are two).

BIOS Reset:

Try pressing F10 repeatedly right after powering it on to see if you can enter the BIOS.

If nothing shows, it could point to a hardware issue.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
