Hello Jsk15679,

Thank you for posting your concern,

If your HP ProBook 440 G8 notebook's camera is showing a blurred image during video calls and system tests, here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Clean the Camera Lens

Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any dust, smudges, or fingerprints:

  1. Use a microfiber cloth to gently clean the camera lens. Avoid using any liquids or harsh chemicals.

Step 2: Check Camera Settings

Ensure that the camera settings are properly configured:

  1. Open your camera app or a video calling application.
  2. Look for any autofocus options and ensure they are enabled.
  3. Check the resolution settings to make sure they are set to the highest quality available.

Step 3: Update Camera Drivers

Updating the camera drivers can sometimes resolve image quality issues:

  1. Open Device Manager (press Windows + X and select Device Manager).
  2. Expand the Imaging devices or Cameras section.
  3. Right-click on the camera device and select Update driver.
  4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow any on-screen instructions.

Step 4: Adjust Lighting Conditions

Ensure the area where you are using the camera has adequate lighting:

  1. Position a light source in front of you to illuminate your face.
  2. Avoid bright lights from behind as they can cause glare and reduce image quality.

Step 5: Test with Different Software

Check if the issue persists across different applications:

  1. Test with built-in apps like the Windows Camera app.
  2. Test with different video conferencing apps (e.g., Zoom, Skype, Teams) to see if the blurriness occurs universally.

Step 6: Perform a System Update

Run the HP Support Assistant to check for any system updates:

  1. Open HP Support Assistant on your laptop.
  2. Check for system updates to ensure all drivers, including the camera driver, are up-to-date.

Step 7: Contact HP Support

If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with the camera. You should contact HP Customer Support for professional assistance.

These steps should help address the blurriness of your camera. If the problem continues, reaching out to HP Support is a good next step.
