Hi @chopdaddy, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Internet Explorer (IE) is outdated and no longer supported by Microsoft, which could be causing issues after updates. However, here are some steps to try:
Solutions to Fix Typing Issue in IE
1. Check if Keyboard Works in Other Apps
- Try typing in Notepad or another browser (like Edge or Chrome).
- If the keyboard doesn't work anywhere, restart your laptop and check again.
2. Restart Internet Explorer
- Close all IE windows.
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
- Under the Processes tab, find iexplore.exe, right-click it, and select End Task.
- Restart IE and test again.
3. Run Internet Explorer in No Add-ons Mode
- Press Windows + R, type: iexplore.exe -extoff
- Press Enter and check if you can type in the search box.
4. Reset Internet Explorer Settings
- Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools (⚙️) > Internet Options.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click Reset, check Delete personal settings, and reset.
- Restart IE and check if typing works.
5. Try Microsoft Edge or Another Browser
Since IE is deprecated, we recommend you use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome for a better experience.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
