Answer

The lack of the Biometric devices section in your Device Manager means that the optional fingerprint reader sensor is not installed in your computer hardware.

When there is no reader installed, the little box on the keyboard is just a same color cover plate.

Control Panel > icon view > Device Manager

Tab View

Check Show hidden devices

Select Devices by Type

Open Biometric devices

If listed...

Right-Click on the Driver > Select / open Properties

What to add the fingerprint reader to your computer?

The part number and the installation procedure is included in your Service Manual.

(4) Fingerprint reader (select products only)
Allows a fingerprint logon to Windows, instead of a password logon.
▲ Swipe down across the fingerprint reader.
IMPORTANT: To prevent fingerprint logon issues, make sure when you
register your fingerprint that all sides of your finger are registered by the
fingerprint reader.
