Hi @williatx12,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Changing the administrator email on an HP Notebook - 15 involves updating the email associated with the Microsoft account (if you're using one to log in) or managing the local user accounts if you're using a local account. Here are the steps for both scenarios.
If Using a Microsoft Account
Sign in to the Microsoft Account Website:
- Go to account.microsoft.com.
- Sign in with your current Microsoft account credentials.
Update Your Email Address:
- Navigate to the Your Info section.
- Click on Manage how you sign in to Microsoft.
- Add a new email address (if it’s not already listed) by selecting Add Email.
- Verify the new email address through the link Microsoft sends to your new email.
- Once verified, set the new email as your Primary Alias.
- You can remove the old email if you no longer need it.
Sign Out and Sign Back In:
- Restart your laptop and sign in using the updated email address.
If Using a Local Account
Open the Settings App:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Navigate to Accounts > Your Info.
Switch to a Microsoft Account (Optional):
- If you're currently using a local account and wish to change to a Microsoft account with the new email, select Sign in with a Microsoft account instead and follow the prompts.

Change Account Name Locally (For Local Accounts):
- Open Control Panel.
- Go to User Accounts > User Accounts > Manage another account.
- Select your account and choose Change the account name or add a new account with a different email.
Troubleshooting
- If you encounter issues with permissions or ownership, you may need to log in as another administrator to make the changes.
- If the administrator email is tied to an organizational or domain account, you may need to contact your IT department for assistance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
