Hi @YigalF,

Please find the next steps below.

5. Thermal Management

Charging can sometimes cause the laptop to generate more heat, leading to thermal throttling.

  1. Clean Vents: Ensure the laptop’s vents are not blocked and clean them if necessary.
  2. Use Cooling Pad: Consider using a cooling pad to help manage the temperature.

6. Battery Saver Mode

Ensure that the Battery Saver mode is not enabled while the laptop is charging.

  1. Check Battery Saver: Click on the battery icon in the taskbar and ensure Battery Saver is turned off when plugged in.

7. BIOS/UEFI Update

An outdated BIOS/UEFI can sometimes cause performance issues.

  1. Update BIOS/UEFI: Go to the HP support website and check for any BIOS/UEFI updates for your model.

8. Background Processes

High CPU or disk usage by background processes can slow down your laptop.

  1. Task Manager: Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc and check for any processes that are consuming a lot of resources.
  2. End Tasks: End any unnecessary tasks or programs that are running in the background.

9. Hardware Diagnostics

Run a full hardware diagnostic to check for any underlying issues.

  1. HP Hardware Diagnostics: Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly to enter the Startup Menu. Press F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool and run a full system test.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be a good idea to contact HP phone support for further assistance, as it could be a hardware-related problem.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @YigalF,

Thanks for sharing the details.

If your HP 15s-eq1000 Laptop PC (8WQ35AV) slows down significantly when charging, this could be due to several reasons, including power settings, battery issues, or even a problem with the charger itself. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Power Settings

Adjusting the power settings can often resolve performance issues while charging.

  1. Open Control Panel: Search for and open the Control Panel.
  2. Power Options: Go to Power Options.
  3. Change Plan Settings: Select your current power plan and click Change plan settings.
  4. Change Advanced Power Settings: Click Change advanced power settings.
  5. Processor Power Management: Expand Processor power management and set the Maximum processor state to 100% for both On battery and Plugged in.
  6. Apply and Save: Apply the changes and save.

2. Update Drivers

Ensure that your laptop has the latest drivers, especially for the battery and power management.

  1. Open Device Manager: Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Battery Drivers: Expand Batteries and update the Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery drivers.
  3. Update Other Drivers: Check for updates for other relevant drivers like Chipset and BIOS/UEFI.

3. Battery Health Check

Check the health of your battery using HP Support Assistant.

  1. Open HP Support Assistant: Search for and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Battery Check: Run a battery check to see if there are any issues with your battery.

4. Charger Check

Ensure that the charger is providing the correct voltage and current.

  1. Use Original Charger: Always use the original charger that came with your laptop.
  2. Inspect Charger: Check the charger for any visible damage or fraying cables.
  3. Test with Another Charger: If possible, test with another compatible charger to see if the problem persists.

Kindly check the next steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
