Hi @rajabhaiya,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your Victus by HP 15.6-inch gaming laptop is experiencing a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) when you try to run your Linux OS on VirtualBox. This issue can be caused by various factors, including software conflicts, outdated drivers, or hardware problems. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and hopefully resolve the issue.
Update VirtualBox and Extensions
Ensure that you have the latest version of VirtualBox and the VirtualBox Extension Pack installed.
- Go to the VirtualBox download page and download the latest version.
- Install the latest VirtualBox Extension Pack that matches your VirtualBox version.
Update Your Drivers
Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause BSOD errors.
- Graphics Drivers: Update your graphics drivers (NVIDIA or AMD) to the latest version.
- Network Drivers: Ensure your network drivers are up to date.
- Chipset Drivers: Update your chipset drivers from the HP support website.
Check VirtualBox Settings
Sometimes specific settings in VirtualBox can cause instability.
Increase Memory and Processor Cores:
- Open VirtualBox.
- Select your Linux VM and click on Settings.
- Go to the System tab and ensure you allocate sufficient memory (RAM) and processor cores.
Enable VT-x/AMD-V:
- Under the System tab, go to the Acceleration tab.
- Ensure that Enable VT-x/AMD-V is checked.
Change Graphics Controller:
- Go to the Display tab.
- Change the Graphics Controller to VMSVGA or VBoxVGA.

Check Windows Event Viewer
Windows Event Viewer can provide more details about why the BSOD occurred.
- Press Win + X and select Event Viewer.
- In the Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs > System.
- Look for any errors or warnings around the time of the BSOD. Note down any specific error codes or messages.
Run System Diagnostics
Memory Test: Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check for memory issues.
- Press Win + R, type mdsched.exe, and press Enter. Choose to restart and check for problems.
Disk Check: Run a check on your hard drive.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter. Restart your laptop to start the disk check.
Check for Software Conflicts
Ensure that no other software running on your laptop conflicts with VirtualBox.
- Antivirus Software: Temporarily disable your antivirus software to see if it resolves the issue.
- Background Processes: Close any unnecessary background processes that might interfere with VirtualBox.
Reinstall VirtualBox
If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling and then reinstalling VirtualBox.
- Uninstall VirtualBox from your system.
- Reboot your laptop.
- Download and install the latest version of VirtualBox from the official website.
Update Windows
Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any available updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
