Hi @sr152,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP Laptop PC 15-Dw3000 is not showing the correct date and time, there could be a few reasons for this issue, such as incorrect settings, a dead CMOS battery, or software conflicts. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check and Set Date and Time Manually

  1. Open Date & Time Settings:
    • Right-click on the clock in the taskbar.
    • Select "Adjust date/time" from the context menu.
  2. Set Date and Time Automatically:
    • Toggle the "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically" options to "On".
    • If these options are already on and the time is still incorrect, toggle them off and then back on.
  3. Manually Set Date and Time:
    • If the automatic options do not work, turn them off.
    • Click on "Change" under "Set the date and time manually" and enter the correct date and time.

Synchronize with Internet Time Server

  1. Open Date & Time Settings:
    • Right-click on the clock in the taskbar.
    • Select "Adjust date/time" from the context menu.
  2. Additional Date, Time, & Regional Settings:
    • Scroll down and click on "Additional date, time, & regional settings".
    • Under "Date and Time", click on "Set the time and date".
  3. Internet Time:
    • Go to the "Internet Time" tab and click on "Change settings".
    • Ensure "Synchronize with an Internet time server" is checked.
    • Click on "Update now" to synchronize with the server.

Check Time Zone Settings

  1. Open Date & Time Settings:
    • Right-click on the clock in the taskbar.
    • Select "Adjust date/time" from the context menu.
  2. Check Time Zone:
    • Ensure that the correct time zone is selected.
    • Toggle "Set time zone automatically" if available.

Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @sr152,

Please find the next set of steps below.

Check CMOS Battery

A dead or failing CMOS battery can cause the date and time to reset or display incorrectly. This is a small battery on your laptop's motherboard that powers the BIOS/UEFI settings.

  1. Check for Symptoms:
    • If the date and time reset every time you restart your laptop, it could be a sign of a dead CMOS battery.
  2. Replace the CMOS Battery:
    • Refer to your laptop's manual for instructions on replacing the CMOS battery, or seek professional help if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.

Update BIOS/UEFI

Outdated BIOS/UEFI firmware can cause various issues, including incorrect date and time settings.

  1. Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates:
    • Go to the HP Support website.
    • Enter your laptop's model number (HP Laptop PC 15-Dw3000) and look for BIOS/UEFI updates.
  2. Follow Instructions:
    • Follow the instructions provided on the website to update your BIOS/UEFI.

Scan for Malware

Malware or viruses can sometimes interfere with system settings, including the date and time.

  1. Run a Full System Scan:
    • Use Windows Defender or any trusted antivirus software to run a full system scan.
    • Remove any detected threats.

Reset the System

If none of the above solutions work, you might need to reset your system settings.

  1. Reset via Settings:
    • Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Recovery".
    • Under "Reset this PC", click on "Get started" and follow the prompts.

Following these steps should help you resolve the issue with your HP Laptop PC 15-Dw3000 not showing the correct date and time. If the problem persists, contact HP Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
