HP EliteBook 840 G2 Base Model Notebook PC

I have HP Elitebook 840 g2. I want to upgrade my SSD by adding m.2 SSD instad of old SATA SSD 128 Gb
So I understand that I need 2260 or 2242 SSD. But I don't understand what type of SSD can my Notebook support - NVME or mSATA?

Can mSATA be single bootable drive? And can NVME be single bootable?

Also what max capasity can be accept?

Please see this discussion:

You need to use the Clover bootloader to be able to boot from a NVMe SSD.

Boot to windows 11 from an nvme ssd . HP elitebook 840 g2 - HP Support Community - 9334404

The service manual indicates that HP offered M.2 2242 SSD's up to 256 GB.

Maybe you can go more to 512 GB or 1 TB, but I can't say for sure.

I checked with Transcend NVME 500 Gb SSD TS500GMTE240S... So Windows 10 was happy to see it as the second drive)). I cannot use it because it's a little bigger, but it works!!
