Someone from microsoft told me that help was removed from all win 7 editions except home and home premium.

I don't know if it is true, but it probably is.

i dont think so because i have install windows 7 pro from one of the last windows 7 installation medias that provide provides for download and it works fine.  Can you please try reinstalling Windows to see if your problem is related to simply files being removed or not be copied during the first installation.

Yeah. I was thinking about that, but I can't do it for a few days. I've got to get a good backup in case I screw up the install, and I don't have time to do it carefully now. maybe next week.

One other thing, I got the iso legally off the internet with a key that microsoft says is valid, but some of the help shows up with strange words in it that may be French. I'm wondering if it's some foreign version.

Can you show me a screen shot of what you are talking about.  if you downloaded the english version of should have nothing except english documentation.

I doubt you can see the pictures since you didn't see the others.

I went to one of the folders inside a dirctory that is in one of my libraries and without opening the folder clicked the help ?

The relevant part of what I got follows:

AutoPlay: frequently asked questions

AutoPlay: frequently asked questions

__elbasuer__

Here are answers to some common questions about AutoPlay.

Now why it decided AutoPlay was the question I have no idea. The __elbasuer__ is what I was talking about. It appears all over the place in the help. No always, and I guess not all over, but in a lot of places.

For example, clicking on the line How can i run or install ... gives the following.  It seems screwed up to me.

AutoPlay: frequently asked questions

Hide content How can I run or install a program from a device or disc?

To run or install a program one time, follow these steps:

  1. Click to open Computer. __elbasuer__

  2. Right-click the device or drive, and then click Run enhanced content or Install or run program.

To have a program always run automatically, follow these steps:

  1. Click to open AutoPlay. __elbasuer__

  2. Choose Run enhanced content for the type you want (enhanced audio CD or enhanced DVD movie), or choose Install or run program for software and games. Note that this runs the program for all discs of this type, not just the disc you are currently using.

Why it thinks my folder is a dvd I don't know (and don't care) I just want regular help.

Thanks for continuing to help me.

The post I tried to submit had some other lines in it but I got the following message:

Your right i cant see the pictures.  it is so weird cause once there are there for a little while then they will show but when they are first uploaded then they wont work.  i am wondering if there is something wrong with your install because at this point i am not sure what else there is to do.  i have not seen this issue and i dont think microsoft is going to remove help because many people use it.

hope to try an "upgrade" install rather than a clean install to see if I can install win7U over itself. I really don't want to have to rebuild my pc. I may just leave it helpless if I can't upgrade to the same level.

Thanks for your help.

An in place upgrade and fix many issues and might fix the problem that you are having.

I wish I had known for sure that I could do an inplace upgrade of my os over itself.

I did it, and it seemed to work. At least I now get help from some of the help-callers that I didn't get get help from before.

well its an improvement.  If it is enough for what you need then problem solved.
