Hello,

after windows update some component the hotkey for the brightness do no work. It heppened last year as well and I managed to install the HP Hotkey VERSION: 5.0.28.1 REV: A SP70855.exe but this time does not work. Volume and other hotkeys works but not the brightness. I already tried to go to device and 'disable' and re 'enable' monitor but it did not work. Any other hints?

thanks

Tom

Hello florence7272,

I would recommend first uninstalling the HP Hotkey support in Control Panel and uninstalling the graphics driver available for your device in Device Manager.

Do it one-by-one, so uninstall one, install the corresponding software then restart.

Intel Video Driver and Control Panel

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp85001-85500/sp85353.exe

HP Hotkey Support

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp79001-79500/sp79266.exe

Hope this works,

Eddy

Hi Eddy, thanks for your reply.

I did as you suggested but it did not work.

I did it twice, removed video drivers, reinstalled, restarted, removed hotkey and re installed hotkey, restart, no joy. Then in the reverse order, removed hotkey, reinstalled, restarted, uninstalled video driver, installed video driver, restarted, no joy.

I waste all day googleing around and I tried also:

1. disable and re enable monitor

2. change keyboard to standard PS2

3. installed a previous version of hotkey which was previously working (ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70855.exe)

4. updated the bios and changed in the settings: A) unthick fn+(F1-F12) key switch and B) unchecked Hybrid Graphics

The only way to change the brightness is to type 'BRIGHTNESS' in cortana search box and change the brightness display settings. Bit annoying as the other key funtion works eg volume fn+ F6/F7, I think it must be a program that interfere with the fn+ F9/F10 but I do not have teamviewer as the other post in the forum were suggesting.

If you have more hints please let me know

thanks!

Tom
