Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I'm confused as to why my iGPU is still being displayed as Intel UHD. I installed another 8GB ramstick in my laptop so now its a 2x8GB ram config. My model is Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15 9T9R8UA#ABA, I looked at the Victus by HP 15.6 15-fa series specifications and it says the series has Intel Iris Xe graphics, for my CPU being the i5-12450H the external software shows it as being UHD Graphics 64EUs. I'm not exactly sure as I'm new to laptops for gaming and I installed the ram before I realized this assuming it was already there, which further adds to my confusion as now that my ram config is specifically how its meant to get it to work and show up, I do not know where to go from here.

Hi @Mikahyakuya,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re encountering an issue where your HP Victus 15 laptop, which should have Intel Iris Xe graphics, is instead showing Intel UHD Graphics. This could be due to a few reasons related to system settings or driver issues. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and enable Intel Iris Xe graphics:

1. Verify Processor and Graphics Configuration

Check Your Processor:

  • The Intel Core i5-12450H is supposed to come with Intel Iris Xe graphics. If your laptop is showing Intel UHD Graphics, it might be using the wrong graphics driver or settings.

Check System Information:

  • Windows Settings: Go to Settings > System > About and check the processor and system specifications to ensure your laptop matches the expected configuration.
  • Device Manager: Press Win + X and select Device Manager. Expand Display adapters and see what graphics devices are listed.

2. Update Graphics Drivers

Download Latest Drivers:

  • Intel Website: Go to the Intel Download Center and search for the latest drivers for Intel Iris Xe graphics. Download and install the appropriate driver for your processor.
  • HP Support: Visit the HP Support website and search for your laptop model. Download and install the latest graphics drivers provided by HP.

Install the Drivers:

  • After downloading, run the installer and follow the instructions to install the drivers. Restart your laptop after the installation.

3. Configure Graphics Settings

Intel Graphics Command Center:

  • Install the Software: If not already installed, download and install the Intel Graphics Command Center from the Microsoft Store or Intel’s website.
  • Open the App: Go to the app and check the graphics settings. Ensure that the Intel Iris Xe graphics are selected and configured correctly.

Windows Graphics Settings:

  • Access Settings: Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings.
  • Set Preferred GPU: For applications that should use the Iris Xe graphics, you can specify which GPU to use (choose Intel Iris Xe if available).

4. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings

Access BIOS/UEFI:

  • Restart Your Laptop: Restart and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, DEL, or ESC during startup).
  • Check Graphics Settings: Look for any settings related to integrated graphics and ensure that Intel Iris Xe is enabled. Some BIOS setups might allow you to select between different graphics options.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
