I am just getting back to an old project system.
I have a HP 8760 that I had an experimental (2940) processor in and that seems to have caused motherboard issues.
I have acquired a 8770 MB which is a physical match, but needs a different support card I also bought.
The 8770 MB is untouched, a 688746-001 and has a strip of reflective tape saying PROTECTED
When installed, I am getting a processor boot, but messages saying not initialized and a counting down warning that I expect would turn it into a dead board if not corrected. I intend to install a 3612QM when upgrading the system. It is rumored to be compatible with both the QM76 and QM77 chipsets.
I have been pointed to a piece of HP service software that is supposed to take care of this, but I was unable to find the correct SP package or any directions on how to use it if found.
Is there any more current information that might address this issue?
Thanks
