trying to get my printer running but laptop keeps saying its not a microsoft verified app

Sounds to me like you have a notebook that has a Windows 10/11 operating system in S-Mode.

 

You can only download programs/apps that are available from the Microsoft Store with Windows S-Mode operating systems.

 

In order to download programs that are not available from the Microsoft Store, you have to switch out of S-Mode and once you do that, you cannot go back to S-Mode unless you factory reset your notebook.
