Hello Ibrahim102,
Thank you for posting your concern,
Troubleshooting Camera Issues on HP EliteBook 840 G5
If the camera on your HP EliteBook 840 G5 is not working, follow these steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:
-
Check If the Camera is Enabled:
- Ensure that the camera is enabled. Press "Fn" + the key that has a camera icon on your keyboard, usually one of the function keys (e.g., F6, F10, etc.), to turn it on.
-
Check Privacy Settings:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and make sure that camera access for this device is turned on.
- Ensure that the app you are trying to use has permission to access the camera.
-
Update Camera Driver:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Cameras section, right-click on your camera device, and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
-
Reinstall the Camera Driver:
- In Device Manager, right-click on the camera under the Cameras section and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the camera driver.
-
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any pending updates.
-
Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter:
- Open Control Panel, search for Troubleshooting, and click View all on the left.
- Find and run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.
-
BIOS Update:
- An outdated BIOS can sometimes affect device functionality. Check if there's an update for your BIOS on the HP Support website and carefully follow instructions to update it.
-
Check for Conflicting Applications:
- Some applications may prevent the camera from being detected. Close any unnecessary applications that might be using the camera.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, you might have a hardware issue. In such a case, consider reaching out to HP support for further assistance.
