HP Smart app going crazy when I install it. Only opens to a blank blue screen. It is happening on my Surface Pro running Windows 10 as well as on my HP Envy running Windows 11. Turned off VPN when downloading. It is doing the same thing on both computers. Makes no sense. My printer is an HP Envy 7640 e all in one.

Hi @NautilusU616,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing some issues with the HP Smart app on both your Surface Pro (running Windows 10) and your HP Envy (running Windows 11), where it only opens to a blank blue screen. This can be frustrating, but there are a few steps you can take to try to resolve this issue.
- Restart the app and your devices: Sometimes, simply closing the app and restarting it can resolve temporary glitches. Additionally, try restarting your Surface Pro and HP Envy printer.
- Check for updates: Ensure that both your Surface Pro and HP Envy printer have the latest updates installed. Sometimes, outdated software can cause compatibility issues with apps like HP Smart.
- Reinstall the HP Smart app: Completely uninstall the HP Smart app from both devices and then reinstall it from the official source (e.g., Microsoft Store for Windows 10, or directly from HP's website). This can help if there was a corrupted installation.
- Clear app cache and data (for Windows 10): If using Windows 10, you can try clearing the app cache and data. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find HP Smart in the list, click on it, and select "Advanced options". From there, you can click on "Reset" to clear the app's cache and data.
- Check for firewall or antivirus interference: Sometimes, security software can block certain app functionalities. Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software isn't blocking the HP Smart app.
By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue with the HP Smart app on both your Surface Pro and HP Envy printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
