problem updating to windows 11 due to driver issue.  However driver update says that the drivers are all up to date.  It is an issue with Intel intcOED.sys driver.  How can i get this updated?

Hi @randommom,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The IntcOED.sys driver is related to Intel's audio technology, and issues with it can hinder Windows 11 upgrades. Here's how you can attempt to resolve this issue:

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant from the Start menu or taskbar.

  • Use it to search for driver updates. Often, it may have newer drivers that Windows Update does not yet offer.

Manually Update Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support page and enter your laptop's model number.

  • Download and install the latest audio drivers available for your laptop's configuration.

Check Intel's Website:

  • Occasionally, the latest drivers can be found directly from Intel's Download Center. Search for IntcOED or similar audio drivers.

  • Download and manually install any available updates.

Windows Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting it from the menu.

  • Under Sound, video and game controllers, locate the Intel audio device.

  • Right-click the device and select Update driver, then choose to search automatically or manually from downloaded files.

BIOS Update:

  • Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop model as it might include broader system compatibility enhancements, including driver support. Use the HP Support Assistant or the Official HP® Support to find and apply BIOS updates.

Uninstall and Reinstall Drivers:

  • Using Device Manager, uninstall the problematic driver.

  • Restart your computer, and allow Windows to attempt to reinstall the appropriate driver automatically.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
