@lynflick, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding messages from McAfee!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Check for Official Notifications
- Open McAfee Security Software: Instead of clicking on pop-up messages, open McAfee directly from your installed programs list to check for any actual virus alerts.
- Update your Antivirus Software: Ensure that your McAfee software is up-to-date so that you are protected with the latest virus definitions.
Perform a Full System Scan
- Run a Full Scan: Within the McAfee software, run a full system scan to check for and address any security threats.
- Use Windows Defender: As an additional measure, you can also run a security scan using Windows Defender.
Be Wary of Scams
- Avoid Clicking on Pop-Ups: Be cautious with pop-up messages warning about viruses. These can often be scams designed to trick you into installing malware.
- Verify Message Source: Verify any virus alerts by opening and checking your antivirus software manually, rather than relying on pop-up messages.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
