HI @EV93,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP True Vision 5MP camera is not showing up in Device Manager and you're unable to reinstall it because the system isn't finding it, you can follow these steps to try and resolve the issue:

Check Your Camera Privacy Settings:

  • On Windows 10 or 11, go to Settings → Privacy → Camera. Make sure camera access for the device is turned on.

Scan for Hardware Changes:

  • Open Device Manager (you can search for it in the Windows search bar).
  • In Device Manager, select the "Action" menu, then choose "Scan for hardware changes". This can help detect hardware that has not been automatically recognized.

Update Camera Drivers:

  • In Device Manager, even if the camera is not listed under Cameras or Imaging devices, check under "Other devices" or "Unknown devices".
  • If found, right-click on the camera device, and select "Update driver". Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" to let Windows search for the latest driver.

Install HP Support Assistant:

  • If you haven’t already, download and install HP Support Assistant from the HP website. This tool can help automatically find and install the necessary drivers for your HP devices.
  • Run HP Support Assistant and check for updates, particularly for your camera.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Sometimes, the camera can be disabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings. Reboot your computer and enter BIOS/UEFI by pressing the F10, F2, F12, DEL, or ESC key (depends on your computer model) during startup.
  • Look for a tab that mentions "Integrated Peripherals" or "Device Configuration" and ensure that the camera is enabled.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update, and click "Check for updates".
  • Install any available updates, as they might include fixes or drivers that could resolve your issue.

HP Driver Downloads:

  • Visit the HP support website and search for your specific model to find any camera-specific drivers. You can manually download and install these if the automatic update didn't work.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
