HP ENVY - 17-ce1035cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Somehow when i did a routine update few weeks back HP driver asst became active i have been getting alerts to update my graphic drivers ever since n it looks to be the same patch but i cant tell for certain because ur site wont let me so i decided to log in and run a manual check and ur site doesnt even list my hp windows 10pro 64bit 21H2 so does HP cut me a check for a new laptop or what. Sorry frustration,,,we all know windows has glitches , the Cortana program, WOW. but easy enough to disable it, but sometimes its updates, at least for me, I don't always download the optional but i do install the major or critical updates n trust microsoft is not just grabbing more personal info. i left the HP driver assistant run because i thought it might help w some issues w my drivers, i fixed the network divers finally, n file history, but this pc doesnt like that i turned off one drive cloud, i dont want it i dont need it, i can use a flash drive. i still dont have a useable cd drive/burner never did out of box, HP had me download VLC n that program is forever behind in updates n i dont like its file/library system, great for media conversion tho. MY question is how do i get HP driver asst program out of my laptop without screwing up update notifications that r actually important

There are 2 variants of HP Diagnostics

A) Windows Store App

B) Windows Application

Dive into this guide to find and uninstall HP Diagnostics

thank you for a very quick response, I was thinking it was going to be like PayPal n notify me about a msg but never let me access msg menu. I did check the link provided n I am aware about the different apps, some, but i was not interested in buying a software program to accomplish the task, more of the name of the program files n name in file registry for manual removal if windows uninstall program can't fully complete the task. often they r different names than the program exe n I'm sure that's intentional data collection is huge n even if a subscriber opts out large software companies find ways to collect meta-data thru other means like updates to drivers, or as here HP wanted me to download a program that will retrieve my serial number of my laptop, even users who dont know how to ask from cmd prompt can turn the pc n read the bottom, not cool HP.

So if u have that list of folders n subfolders that would be helpful, lol I probably could have just asked that instead of a long ramble of frustration, n i really won't know if i drivers r truly up to date. If i ever get to meet Bill Gates I'll probably punch him in the nose. Thanks again.

Hello @alittlepissedof

Think about it, when you install Windows you accept the license agreement and all the terms and conditions Microsoft forces on you. The operating system offers many good things, but there is still some dark and ugly stuff going on in the background. If you have paranoia, I would just stay away from Microsoft and use another operating system. Very simple !

Take a look at task manager to identify the process and path that driver support uses. Then you can decide what you are doing with the identified directory ...

Thanks Ub6424, I will check my Task mgr.

And yeah, I read those terms n agreements lol, I thought i was in the minority and am in my small group of friends. I try n opt tho as much as possible but it's getting harder n I don't think my terms n agreements will go unchallenged in arbitration. But still be satisfying to punch Bill.

You're welcome

Keep me updated and tell me what directories you were able to find so we can close the case soon...
