Hi @victus9496,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your Windows keeps opening help tabs automatically, exhausting your system, and now the help pages are opening in Chrome after uninstalling Edge. Let’s go through a few steps to stop this behavior.

    a. Check Startup Programs
        • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
        • Go to the Startup tab and look for anything related to Windows Help, Tips, or Edge/Chrome popups.
        • Disable any suspicious entries and restart the computer.

    b. Check Scheduled Tasks
        • Press Windows + R, type taskschd.msc, and press Enter.
        • Look under Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Help or Customer Experience.
        • Disable or delete tasks that automatically open help tabs.

    c. Reset Default Browser Settings
        • Open Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
        • Set a stable browser (like Chrome or Edge if reinstalled) as the default.
        • Make sure .htm, .html, and help files (.chm) are assigned properly.

    d. Scan for Malware / Adware
        • Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or a trusted antivirus.
        • Sometimes unwanted popups are caused by malware or adware running in the background.

    e. Reinstall Microsoft Edge (Recommended)
        • Some Windows help functions are hardwired to Edge. Uninstalling it can cause help tabs to open in other browsers unexpectedly.
        • Download and reinstall Microsoft Edge from the official Microsoft website.
        • This ensures Windows Help opens correctly and stops redirecting to Chrome.

    f. Disable “Tips, Tricks, and Suggestions”
        • Open Settings > System > Notifications & Actions.
        • Turn off “Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows.”

    g. Restart and Test
        • Restart your system after making the changes.
        • Observe if help tabs stop opening automatically.

I hope this helps.
