Hi  @ssshehu,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how it can be when your keyboard backlight isn’t working. Let’s work together to get this fixed.

Could you please share the exact HP laptop model you’re using?

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can try :

1.Use Keyboard Shortcut

Many HP laptops have a dedicated key combination to toggle the backlight.

Try pressing Fn + F4 or Fn + F5 (varies by model)

Look for a key with a small light icon on it

2.Check BIOS Settings

Sometimes the backlight option is disabled in BIOS.

Restart laptop → Press Esc repeatedly → Enter BIOS Setup

Navigate to System Configuration

Ensure Action Keys Mode and Keyboard Backlight are enabled

3.Update HP Drivers

Outdated drivers can prevent the backlight from functioning.

Open HP Support Assistant or visit HP Drivers page https://support.hp.com/

Update Keyboard driver

Update BIOS firmware

Restart your laptop after updates

4.Power Reset

Shut down your laptop

Disconnect power adapter

Hold power button for 15 seconds

Reconnect and restart

These steps often resolve the issue, but if the light still doesn’t come on, it may be a hardware-related problem.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
