Hi @8CG9182J56,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that the keyboard works in the BIOS but not in Windows, there might be an issue with the drivers or settings. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Verify BIOS Functionality:

  • Ensure your keyboard functions correctly in the BIOS settings. Restart your laptop and press F10 as it boots to enter the BIOS setup menu. If the keyboard works here, proceed with the next steps.

Update or Reinstall Keyboard Driver:

  • Open Device Manager:
  • Press Windows + X and select "Device Manager."
  • Expand Keyboards:
  • Look for any items under "Keyboards." Right-click on your keyboard device, and select "Uninstall device."

Restart the Laptop:

  • After uninstalling, restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the correct driver.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your system is updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any pending updates.

Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter:

  • Access Troubleshooting:
  • Type “Troubleshoot settings” in the Windows search box and select it.

Run Troubleshooter:

  • Click on "Additional troubleshooters" and select "Keyboard" under "Find and fix other problems." Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting.

Disable Filter Keys:

  • Sometimes, filter keys might affect keyboard usage.
  • Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard and make sure "Use Filter Keys" is turned off.

Take care and have an amazing day!
