HP Recommended

We are returning a lap top and purchasing a different one with some hardware we did not realize we needed.  We understand there is a restocking fee and accept that.  Is it ok to perform a factory reset before sending it back?  we do not want any of our personal information on the computer.  Am concerned that the instructions say if will delete all the apps.  I suppose HP will just reload what they want.  will there be any issues sending a factory reset computer back?
